Graham Kendrick (b. 1950) is well known as the author of many popular worship songs, for example ‘Meekness and Majesty’, ‘The Servant King’ and ‘Lead me to the Cross’. The prolific nature of his output and the popularity of his lyrics and music make him one of the proponents of the 20th/21st century worship song genre – a popular variant of traditional hymnody. Kendrick is perhaps most well-known for ‘Shine, Jesus, Shine’ which he wrote in 1987. Although it is now considered by many to be a ‘classic’, it remains popular among congregations in many denominations, and across the world, and has become a part of many hymnals.
